COMPACT CAMPER HIRE TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. DRIVERS
Drivers must between 25 and 70 years of age, free of physical defect or infirmity and must have held a full domestic driving licence for at least two years. The licence must be unendorsed (except speeding and parking offences), and must be produced at the time of collection of the vehicle. Proof of identity must be produced at the beginning of the hire i.e. passport, utility bills or credit cards. The driver cannot have been involved in more than 1 accident in the last 3 years.
2. INSURANCE
Comprehensive insurance is included in the hire charge. The vehicle is only insured for the contract period and therefore the driving of the vehicle after the expiry of the contract period may result in the driver committing a traffic offence. The hirer is entirely responsible for accidental damage, injury and consequential loss after the expiry of the hire period. Insurance cover shall at all times exclude the personal possessions of the hirer. Please note the hire fees include a charge for Collision Damage Waiver. There is a refundable (subject to no excess being applied) £100 accidental damage deposit which is payable by the hirer when the balance of the hire charge is paid.
3. PAYMENT
The balance of charges and damage deposit should be paid by cheque four weeks prior to commencement of hire. If the balance is not paid when due Compact Camper Van Hire reserves the right to cancel the booking. We strongly recommend customers to take out holiday insurance as refunds cannot be made due to cancellations.
4. OIL AND COOLANT, GAS AND TYRES
The hirer will be responsible for maintaining the correct level of engine oil and coolant, failure to do so may result in engine damage for which the hirer will be held responsible. The vehicle will have two gas cylinders, one serviceable and one full. Should replacement cylinders be required these will be at the hirer’s expense. Any damage to tyres, however caused will be charged to the hirer.
5. COLLECTION AND RETURN
Vehicles are available for collection from our premises after 4 pm on the date of commencement of hire, and must be returned to our premises before 10am on the last day of hire. In the event of the vehicle being returned after the time specified in the schedule, the hirer shall pay to the owner £25 for each hour or part hour for which the hirer retains the vehicle beyond the time specified in the schedule.
6. BREAKDOWN
In the event of a breakdown or accident, A.A services are at the full disposal of the Hirer. Instructions for repairs or replacement, at a cost not exceeding £50, may be given by the hirer, who will be reimbursed on the production of receipted invoice. Company approval must be obtained in respect of repairs/replacement in excess of £50. Compact Camper Van Hire will not be responsible for hotel or any other expenses subsequent to a breakdown, but will refund the hire charges for any complete days loss of use of the vehicle, nor will they be under any liability for third party claims or damages with any accident or breakdown. In the event of an accident involving the vehicle the hirer shall notify the owner by telephone immediately after the event or as soon as practicably possible, thereafter a completed accident report form must be handed to the company at termination of hire. 7. AVAILABILITY
If due to circumstances beyond our control the vehicle is unavailable for hire, Compact Camper Van Hire shall refund all monies paid. The company may cancel the hire, if at the time of collection the nominated driver’s licences are invalid or not in accordance with the terms and conditions of the insurers. The owners reserve the right to refuse to enter in to an agreement with the prospective hirer without stating a reason.
8. FUEL
Campers are full of fuel on the day of pickup, and should be returned in the same condition, if not penalties may be incurred.
9. PETS
Pets maybe allowed by prior agreement.
10. FINES AND PENALTIES
The hirer shall settle all fines and penalties incurred by the hirer during the term of hire and the hirer agrees to reimburse the owner in respect of any cost and expenses incurred by the owner in recovering such fines and penalties from the hirer.
11. CARE AND CUSTODY OF THE VEHICLE
The hirer shall drive the vehicle while qualified to do so and whilst holding all necessary and current licences and permits, and shall at all times drive the vehicle in a careful and skilful manner in accordance with all legal requirements. The hirer shall not use the vehicle for racing, pace making or any other purposes other than domestic and social purposes and shall not carry any passengers in the vehicle for hire or reward. Not more than 5 persons shall be carried in the vehicle. The hirer shall not take the vehicle off the English, Scottish or Welsh mainland without the prior written consent of Compact Camper Van Hire. The hirer shall at no time pass possession or custody of the vehicle to any other person. The vehicle must be locked at all times when left unattended.
12. CONDITION OF VEHICLE
The hirer must use the vehicle in a reasonable and proper manner and the hirer is liable for any damage, fault or loss, to or in the vehicle or its fixtures and fittings as a result of the hirers negligence or misuse of the vehicle.
13. EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY
The owner shall not under any circumstances be liable to make any payment to the hirer in respect of or to indemnify the hirer against loss, injury or damage sustained by the hirer or any third party as a result of the presence or use of the vehicle or as a result of any defects therein and in taking delivery of the vehicle the hirer shall be deemed to have satisfied himself that it is in all respects roadworthy and in proper and safe condition.
14. SMOKING
Compact Camper Van Hire operate a strictly enforced NO SMOKING OR NAKED FLAME policy in all vehicles. ANY OFFENDER WILL FORFEIT THEIR DEPOSIT IN FULL.
